THE INFLUENCE OF THE HEATPIPE HEAT EXCHANGER'S GEOMETRY ON ITS HEAT TRANSFER EFFECTIVENESS.

Author(s) : PERETZ R., BENDESCU J.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE AUTHORS ANALYSED THE VARIATION OF THE HEAT TRANSFER EFFECTIVENESS (HTE) OF HEAT PIPE HEAT EXCHANGERS, DIFFERING IN THE NUMBER OF ROWS IN DEPTH, IN THE FRONTAL FACE AREA, AND IN THE FIN DENSITY. THE HTE OF A CERTAIN EXCHANGER IS GIVEN AS A FUNCTION OF THE HTE OF A REFERENCE RECOVERY UNIT. THE COMPARISON IS MADE AT THE SAME MASS FLOW VELOCITY IN THE FREE FLOW SECTION. EXCHANGERS ARE DIVIDED INTO HALVES, ONE FOR THE HOT FLUID AND THE OTHER FOR THE COLD. NUMERICAL EXAMPLES ARE MADE FOR AIR/AIR RECOVERY UNITS WITH PLANAR FINS FOR THE TEMPERATURE RANGE 293-343 K (20-70 DEG C).
