Heat transfer phenomena inside the cylinder of CO2-compressors and the influence on their efficiency.

Author(s) : SÜSS J., KRUSE H.

Summary

A high efficiency of the real process is necessary, because the theoretical performance of the CO2 is inferior to the common used refrigerants. The real performance strongly depends on the efficiency of the compressor. The phenomena of heat transfer inside the working chamber of a compressor is one of the factors influencing the energetic and volumetric efficiency of the indicated compression process. Due to the thermophysical properties of CO2, a reconsideration of this phenomena is required. The paper focuses on theoretical and experimental investigations of this effect and an estimation of its influence on the efficiency of different compressor types is given.
