Heat transfer study of two phase flow refrigerants with sub cooling and super heating.

Number: pap. n. 15

Author(s) : TARAWNEH M.

Summary

This research investigates the effect of super heating and sub cooling when replacing the refrigerant R22 by the refrigerant R407c in a 5 KW window-type air conditioning unit. The need of such replacement comes from the fact that R22 is an ozone depleting gas. Results of this work indicate that, the refrigerant R407c can be used as an alternative refrigerant for R22 in this type of air conditioning units. It is also indicated that, the coefficient of performance (COP) of R407c and R22 increases slightly as the degree of sub cooling and the degree of super heating increase, separately or in a combined way and, it reaches a value of 4.35 and 5.18 respectively, at Te = 13 degree Celsius, degree of sub cooling = 17 degree Celsius degree of sub cooling = 6 degree Celsius and T c = 40 degree Celsius.
