Heat transfer testing of alternative refrigerants to R22.

Author(s) : KONDEPUDI S. N.

Summary

The paper describes the research effort and some of the results on the heat transfer testing of the potential R22 alternatives. The paper outlines the experimental methodology, presents some of the salient results for the evaporative and condensation heat transfer tests for both inside and outside tubes. The refrigerants studied were R22, R134a, R32-R134a, R32-R134a-R125 and R32-R125. The R32-R125 azeotrope had the best behaviour as compared to R22 followed by R134a. Both of these had adverse impacts with the presence of lubricants.
