Summary

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS WERE MADE OF HEAT TRANSFER TO R22 INSIDE HORIZONTAL, SMOOTH EVAPORATOR-TUBES. DATA OF THE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS AS WELL AS CIRCUMFERENTIALLY AVERAGED HEAT TRANSFERCOEFFICIENTS WERE OBTAINED FOR 0.29 TO 0.59 MPASCAL, 100 TO 500 KG/M2S, 5 TO 35 KW/M2, AND INSIDE DIAMETERS OF 7.0 AND 10.2 MM. A DIMENSIONLESS CORRELATION OF THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS WAS OBTAINED, WHICH AGREED WITHTHE PRESENT EXPERIMENTAL DATA WITHIN THE LIMIT OF ABOUT 30 PERCENT.
