Summary

HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS FOR LIQUIDS INSIDE TUBES DURING FORCED-CONVECTION BOILING OR CONDENSATION ARE CORRELATED EMPIRICALLY IN TERMS OF THE PROPERTIES OF THE PURE COMPONENTS. THE LIQUID WETS THE TUBE WALL AND VAPOUR FLOWS AT HIGH VELOCITY INSIDE THE TUBE. THE EQUATIONS EMPHASIZE USE OF THE EXISTING WALL SHEAR STRESS. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE DEVIATION OF THE DATA FOR MIXTURES OTHER THAN THAT ACCOUNTED FOR BY ITS PHYSICAL PROPERTIES.
