Summary

Low temperature liquid helium is not the universal wetting agent as often indicated. Theoretical simulations showed that the heaviest alkalines, caesium, rubidium and potassium were not wetted by helium. This theory has been experimentally confirmed only for caesium. Further research has shown "wetting transition" and "prewetting" transition and gives quantitative data on the interaction between helium and alkaline metals. J.L.
