Helmholtz state equation for oxygen, nitrogen and argon.

Summary

Based on an extensive literature survey, together with programming of equation of state explicit in Helmholtz energy and Bender equation, a comparison between these two equations of state has been made extensively concerning the p-rho-T properties of oxygen, nitrogen and argon. Of all the regions examined, with temperature covering from triple-point temperature of fluids concerned to 520 K and pressure from 0.1 to 100 MPa, special attention is paid to the saturation region and near-critical region. Calculated values of two equations of state are compared with highly precise experimental data, with several typical figures of error bar drawn. It has been confirmed that Helmholtz state equation possesses evident superiority over Bender equation in the whole range of normal state fluid. This result will be helpful to promote the former equation of state to be applied in engineering fields.
