HISTORY AND PROSPECTS OF HEAT TRANSFORMATION.

Author(s) : TREPP C.

Summary

THE APPLICATIONS OF THE HEAT TRANSFORMER HAVE BEEN KNOWN FOR MORE THAN 120 YEARS. ABOUT 50 YEARS AGO, ALTENKIRCH SHOWED A LOT OF PRACTICAL USE OF HEAT TRANSFORMERS. AT THE SAME TIME NESSELMANN ESTABLISHED THE PRINCIPLES OF HEAT TRANSFORMERS. IN THE 40'S AND 50'S AMERICAN EFFORTS CONCENTRATED ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ABSORPTION REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT FOR AIR CONDITIONING. IN THE FUTURE, SOLVENT-SOLUTE PAIRS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR DIFFERENT OPERATING CONDITIONS SUCH AS THE REPLACEMENT OF CONVENTIONAL HEAT PUMPS, SOLAR HEAT PUMPS, HIGH TEMPERATURE HEAT PUMPS. AT PRESENT, HEAT PUMPS WITH EFFICIENCIES REACHING 1.7 ARE BUILT AND ARE RELIABLE. THESE HEAT TRANSFORMERS ARE MAINLY ADVANTAGEOUS WHEN USED FOR BOTH HEATING AND COOLING.
