Summary

The first part of the paper (see the Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2007-0353) dealt with infections which occurred in hospital caused by the documented pathogens derived from hospital patients or endogenous microbiological agents. The hospital infections along with their causes have been discussed. The second part of the paper deals with the contribution of air conditioning and ventilation systems to a decrease in the risk of infection in hospital buildings. The problem of awareness of the hospital personnel regarding the necessity to increase inside air quality has also been discussed.
