Summary
The leakage from the cylinder of a reciprocating compressor for carbon dioxide was measured. The results of these measurements were applied to simulate the inner working cycle of the compressor and to estimate the influence of leakage on the compression process. It was found that the leakage of the cylinder has - despite the huge pressure difference using CO2 as the refrigerant - only a negligible influence on the efficiency working process of oil-lubricated compressors.
