Summary

IF THE COLD BOX IS LOCATEDAT GROUND LEVEL WITH THE SUPERCONDUCTING EQUIPMENT AT LOWER LEVEL, THE STATIC PRESSURE GENERATED BY THE COLD GAS COLUMN COULD INCREASE THE LIQUID HELIUM TEMPERATURE AT THE LOWEST POINT IN A NON ACCEPTABLE WA THE PROPOSED SOLUTION CONSISTS OF USING A CRYOGENIC COMPRESSOR (CRYOCOMPRESSOR) IN ORDER TO COMPENSATE THE COLUMN HEIGHT. THIS SOLUTION OFFERS AN ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGE, IE THE POSSIBILITY TO DECREASE THE BATH TEMPERATURE TO LOWER THAN 4.5 K. DIFFERENT LOCATIONS OF THE CRYOCOMPRESSOR ARE DISCUSSED.
