HVAC&R industry research for the 21st century.

Summary

The 21st Century Research (21-CR) Program, which began in 1999, seeks to foster an environment where technical barriers are identified, potential solutions are investigated, and information is shared. Areas of interest are related to all aspects of the HVAC&R industry. Work is focused in five areas: alternative equipment, high efficiency equipment, system integration into buildings, indoor environmental quality, and alternative working fluids. The purpose of this paper is three-fold: (1) to highlight some research already conducted (2) to identify those efforts that the 21-CR Program will be undertaking in the next three to five years and (3) to allow other research organizations to undertake research opportunities, without duplicating efforts already underway.
