Summary

To face the resurgence of multiple drug resistant forms of TB (tuberculosis), several effective and inexpensive (relative to costs incurred from healthcare of additional infections) occupational hygiene methods may be used in the United States to control the transmission of TB including dilution ventilation, local exhaust ventilation, filtration and ultraviolet germicidal irradiation. Personal protective equipment is also a control measure which is used in conjunction with occupational hygiene controls.
