Summary
States that over 35% of the existing commercial buildings in the USA were constructed between 1960 and 1979 and are now prime candidates for HVAC retrofit opportunities. From this standpoint, examines the advantages and drawbacks of thermal storage and cold air distribution systems and compares them with more conventional HVAC systems. Concludes that thermal storage and cold air distribution systems are a viable alternative in a retrofit project. However, comparable HVAC alternatives must be evaluated also.
