HVAC SYSTEMS FOR THE MELTING HALL OF AN INDUSTRIAL FOUNDRY WER E SELECTED UNDER THE ASPECTS OF ECONOMY OF OPERATION, LOW INVESTMENT COST, AND DIRECT SUPPLY OF CONDITIONED AMBIENT AIR TO THE WORKING PLACES. THE HVAC SYSTEMS (WITHOUT COOLING AND HUMIDIFYING UNITS) WERE KEPT COMPACT IN SIZE BY CHOOSING A VERTICAL AIR FLOW, FROM BOTTOM TO TOP. THE REGENERATIVE HEAT RECOVERY UNITS INSTALLED WERE FULLY CAPABLE OF HEATINGUP THE AMBIENT AIR. DIRECT VENTILATION OF THE WORKING PLACES, IN SOME CASES BY POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT VENTILATION NOZZLES IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE CORES AND IN SOME CASES BY HORIZONTAL NOZZLES SPACED UP TO 40 M FROM THE CORES, SERVED TO ASSURE GOOD AIR QUALITY.
