HYBRID DESICCANT COOLING SYSTEMS IN SUPERMARKET APPLICATIONS.

Summary

THE PRESENCE OF REFRIGERATED CASES IN SUPERMARKETS MAKES MOISTURE REMOVAL THE PRIMARY AIR CONDITIONING REQUIREMENT. HYBRID DESICCANT COOLING SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN PROPOSED. THE PAPER STUDIES THE PERFORMANCE OF THREE POSSIBLE HYBRID SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS IN SUPERMARKET APPLICATIONS AND COMPARES THEIR PERFORMANCE WITH THE VAPOUR-COMPRESSION SYSTEM. RESULTS PRESENTED SUGGEST A TOTAL AIR CONDITIONING SAVING OF 60% WITH HYBRID SYSTEMS FOR THE DESIGN CONDITION CONSIDERED.
