A PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT IN SYDNEY WILL USE AN ICE-BANK STORAGE SYSTEM. ICE WILL BE BUILT ON R12 EVAPORATOR COILS SUBMERGED IN WATER TANKS. THE R12 SYSTEM IS A PUMPED LIQUID RECIRCULATION SYSTEM USING SCREW COMPRESSORS. THE OBJECT OF THE SYSTEM IS TO AVOID PEAK POWER CHARGES, TO SPREAD THE COOLING LOAD, AND TO REDUCE STANDBY CAPACITY.
