Summary

Adsorptive desiccant cooling equipment with a honeycomb rotor adsorber was improved from the viewpoints of simultaneous heat/mass transfer in the adsorbent wheel, performance of each component and its process configuration. A new desiccant cooling process with double-stage dehumidification or a total heat energy exchanger was developed to produce sufficient cool air even in a muggy climate. A hybrid air-conditioning system, which consists of desiccant cooling and conventional air conditioning, was proposed to maximize the overall COP.
