Summary

A SIGNIFICANT COMPONENT OF ANY ENERGY SAVING PROGRAMME IS THE MONITORING OF PERFORMANCE AND THE DEMONSTRATION OF EFFECTIVENESS. A LARGE NUMBER OF RETROFIT SCHEMES IN THE STATE OF TEXAS WERE ASSESSED, IN THIS WAY, AND SOME RESULTS ARE PUBLISHED HERE. MONITORING METHODS DEPEND ON THE SIZE AND COMPLEXITY OF THE PROJECTS. SOME PROJECTS SUCH AS EMS, CAN HAVE MONITORING BUILT IN. TO ENSURE ACCURACY IN DATA COLLECTION, MANY SENSORS HAD TO BE SPECIALLY CALIBRATED. ONE DIFFICULTY IS HAVING A CLEAR INTERPRETATION OF THE MASS OF DATA OBTAINED. A.R.T.
