Improving heat pump system quality in the Netherlands.

Type of article: Article
Summary
In the Netherlands, heat pumps for space heating and for residential hot water face strong competition from gas fired boilers. In efforts to improve heat pump system efficiency and quality, testing and monitoring play a crucial role, but monitoring is not cheap and the results are not always unambiguous. The Netherlands organisation for applied scientific research (TNO) has developed a standard monitoring system (SOM-WP) that is unambiguous and affordable and in line with the most recent Dutch and European government guidelines.
