THE TEST DATA RELATING TO THE INCIPIENT BOILING OF HELIUM ARE SURVEYED AND THE EFFECT ON THESE OF OPERATING PARAMETERS AND THE PROPERTIES OF THE HEATING SURFACE ARE DISCUSSED. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE GIVEN FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INCIPIENT BOILING OF HELIUM UNDER VARIOUS CONDITIONS. THE MODERN CONCEPTS ON THE DYNAMICS OF VAPOUR BUBBLES DURING BOILING ARE REPORTED AND THE TEST DATA ON THE MICROCHARACTERISTICS OF THE NUCLEATE BOILING OF HELIUM ARE STUDIED. R.R.
