Summary

Development of current markets for air conditioning in residential and tertiary sectors in France is analysed. The sales have grown by 17% in 1992. The distribution of the whole per category of appliances, the distribution of mobile air-conditioner units between single and double-blocks, distribution of autonomous central plants according to the types of installations are given through charts. The potentialities of the diffuse tertiary market are then studied: the strongest markets are offices and retail trades. The special case of hotel business is analysed. A chart summurizes the penetration rate in the tertiary sector. The modes of acquisition and the opportunities for equipment are studied. Centralized air conditioning keeps growing little by little. Finally, the results of a survey of the perception of individual air-conditioning are given. J.L.
