Summary

A REVIEW HAS BEEN UNDERTAKEN OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF MAIN TURBUL ENT MODELS WHICH INCLUDE TURBULENT TRANSPORT MODELS AND LARGE EDDY SIMULATIONS. IT HAS BEEN CONCLUDED THAT THE TURBULENT MODEL IS ONE OF THE BEST FOR INDOOR AIR MOVEMENT PREDICTIONS. THE LITERATURE IS ALSO REVIEWED ABOUT THE MODELLING OF AIR VELOCITY, TEMPERATURE AND CONTAMINANT CONCENTRATION DISTRIBUTIONS IN BUILDINGS. ATTENTION IS BRIEFLY DRAWN TO THE DESCRIPTION OF THE CONSERVATION EQUATIONS. BASED ON THE ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF INDOOR AIR DISTRIBUTIONS ON BUILDING ENERGY CONSUMPTION, IT HAS BEEN POINTED OUT THAT IT IS NECESSARY TO COMBINE THE RESEARCH ON INDOOR AIR FLOW SIMULATIONS AND ON BUILDING ENERGY ANALYSIS TOGETHER.
