Summary

MANY NEW STYLES OF LARGE AIR VOLUME INDOOR SPACES (GYMNASIUMS, ATRIA, AUDITORIUMS AND AIR DOMES) HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED IN RECENT YEARS. IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE AND AIR-FLOW VELOCITY DISTRIBUTIONS EFFECTIVELY IN THESE INDOOR SPACES BECAUSE OF THEIR LARGE SIZE. THE NEED FOR ACCURATE PREDICTIONS AT THE DESIGN STAGE OF THE INDOOR CLIMATE OF THE SPACE IS THUS INCREASING. THE PAPER IS AN INTRODUCTION TO INDOOR CLIMATE IN LARGE SPACES AND TO METHODS FOR PREDICTING THE TEMPERATURE AND AIR-FLOW VELOCITY DISTRIBUTIONS IN THEM.
