Summary
A new nozzle design and a profiled side wall are unique characteristics of a new type of induction air conditioning unit. Sound power level radiated from the unit is reduced by 3 to 7 decibels for a given primary air pressure in the unit and the rate of entrainment of secondary (room return) air is increased by 30 to 35% resulting in a similar increase in cooling capacity. The nozzles and the profiled side wall can also be retrofitted into existing units to improve their overall performance. Definitive laboratory tests and a full scale field trial are described.
