Author(s) : COLE R. A.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE AUTHOR OFFERS AN EXAMINATION OF PREVIOUS, CURRENT, AND POSSIBLE FUTURE METHODS FOR CALCULATING WHAT IS OFTEN A HIGH PROPORTION OF COLD STORE REFRIGERATION LOAD. SOME PAST METHODS HAVE BEEN BASED ON LITTLE MORE THAN INSPIRED GUESSES AND HAVE RESULTED IN COMPLETELY INADEQUATE REMOVAL OF MAINLY LATENT LOADS, WITH CORRESPONDING BUILD UP OF ICE AND FROST. MORE RECENTLY, RESEARCH AND EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES HAVE COMBINED TO PRODUCE MORE ACCURATE PREDICTIONS OF LOADS CAUSED BY OPEN DOORS. THESE APPEAR TO BE SUBSTANTIATED BY PRACTICE. D.W.H.
