INFLUENCE OF DISCHARGE CHARACTERISTICS ON DESIGN OF CHILLED WATER STORAGE.

Author(s) : MACKIE E. I.

Summary

RECENTLY PUBLISHED RESULTS OF A LABORATORY EVALUATION OF STRATIFIED CHILLED WATER STORAGE TECHNIQUES PROVIDE SUBSTANTIAL DATA ON STRATIFIED STORAGE PERFORMANCE THAT IS USEFUL IN STORAGE DESIGN. THE PAPER PRESENTS, WITH EXAMPLES, SOME DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS IN USING STRATIFIED CHILLED WATER STORAGE IN A TYPICAL OFFICE BUILDING. THE INFLUENCE OF STORAGE PERFORMANCE, PARTICULARLY THE DISCHARGE TEMPERATURE CHARACTERISTIC, IS DISCUSSED RELATIVE TO STORAGE STRATEGY, SIZING OF CHILLER AND STORAGE SYSTEM, AND THE CHILLED WATER DISTRIBUTION.
