Summary
Presents a literature review concerned with the influence of plumbing pipe materials on biofouling, particularly colonisation by Legionella pneumophila. Copper pipes restrict or suppress microbiological growth in general and that of Legionella pneumophila in particular in comparison with polybutylene, PVC, cross-linked polyethylene, polypropylene, galvanised steel and stainless steel.
