Summary

PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF LITERATURE SEARCH INTO THE EFFECTS ON HUMAN COMFORT OF INFRASOUND PROPAGATED BY AIR CONDITIONING INSTALLATIONS. STATES THAT CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF EARLIER FINDINGS CONCERNING THIS PHENOMENON AND THEIR COMPARISON WITH THE RESULTS OF THE LATEST RESEARCH DEMONSTRATE THAT INFRASOUND CANNOT AFFECT HUMAN COMFORT. IN ADDITION, IN THE AUDIBLE SOUND RANGE, THE APPLICATION OF MODERN NOISE INSULATION AND NOISE ATTENUATION TECHNIQUES SHOULD RESULT IN BUILDINGS WHICH ARE MORE ACOUSTICALLY COMFORTABLE THAN WINDOW VENTILATED BUILDINGS SUBJECT TO TRAFFIC NOISE.
