Summary

Special carriers are crucial for ensuring the quality of short-short distance transportation. Semiconductor chilled/heated portable containers and vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) are employed as thermal insulation materials. The effects of the relative position of VIPs in multi-layers and semiconductor devices on insulation effect were investigated. Two notable installation locations were designed and tested. A physical and numerical heat transfer model was established, and the results of the experiment and simulation were analysed. The results indicated that the insulation effect was significantly better with the VIPs in Inner design. The internal temperature distribution was more uniform, and the chill quantity was not easily dissipated. The potential of semiconductor chill/heat portable containers with VIP envelopes for small device applicating in cold chain was demonstrated. The work provided valuable insights into the effect of the relative position of VIPs in multi-layers and semiconductor devices on the insulation effect, offering optimizing design.
