Summary

AS TEMPERATURES OF 223 K (-50 DEG C) OR BELOW ARE NEEDED ON TUNA BOATS, A WELL INSULATED FISH HOLD AND RELIABLE REFRIGERATING PLANT ARE ESSENTIAL. ULTRA-LOW TEMPERATURES CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH FOAMED-IN-PLACE POLYURETHANE INSULATION. ALTHOUGH FOAMED POLYURETHANE ITSELF HAS EXCELLENT THERMAL INSULATION CHARACTERISTICS, CONSTRUCTION DETAILS LIKE JOIST ARRANGEMENT CAN AFFECT INSULATION CHARACTERISTICS ON THE WHOL THE NEED TO ESTABLISH A WORKING METHOD USING NEW, NON-CFC FOAMING MEDIA IS DISCUSSED.
