Integrated approach for the treatment of steady-state operational data of absorption chillers and heat pumps.

Summary

The objective of this paper is to adapt and use techniques from the data reconciliation (DR) framework to the treatment of steady-state operational data of absorption chillers and heat pumps. DR is important in process industry because its application results in reliable process measurements that are consistent with the conservation laws. A case of study of a small-capacity ammonia/water absorption chiller is presented in this work. A simple methodology for accounting the degrees of freedom and determining redundant measurements is used to generate a set of input and output variables to be reconciled. Results show that the use of reconciled measurements lead to calculations that satisfy the laws of conservation, lower model deviations from measurements, and more reliable calculations of the key performance parameters, like coefficient of performance and cooling capacity.
