Author(s) : HOENIG M. O.

Summary

NIOBIUM-TITANIUM SUPERCONDUCTORS MAINTAINED AT SUBLAMBDA TEMPERATURES PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE TO HELIUM COOLED NIOBIUM-3-TIN SUPERCONDUCTORS OPERATING IN THE 4.2 TO -K TEMPERATURE RANGE. THE SUBJECT PAPER EXAMINES THE REPLACEMENT OF SUPERCRITICAL HELIUM I WITH SUBCOOLED HELIUM II IN A SLIGHTLY MODIFIED MIT-12 T TEST COIL. BOTH STEADY-STATE AND TRANSIENT HEAT LOADS ARE CONSIDERED.
