Investigation of the channel diffuser of centrifugal compressor.

Summary

The results of investigation of the flow in specially designed channel diffusers of centrifugal compressors are presented in the paper. Diffuser geometry was designed to provide high pressure recovery and to decrease losses. This aim was achieved by defining the boundary layer preseparation condition along one of the channel surfaces as a principal part of the design method. The channel diffuser model was designed for the experimental investigation on the test rig. Numerical investigation using CFD-software was performed. Obtained gas dynamic characteristics of designed diffusers were compared to characteristics of the base diffuser of the compressor stage.
