Summary

THE CONCLUSIONS OF INVESTIGATIONS WERE AS FOLLOWS: DURING THE OPERATION OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM, ENERGY CONSUMPTION IS MAXIMUM, 43.8 AND 52.4 KWT, ACCORDING TO THE CONDITION OF POTATOES AND THE CONTROL OF THE VENTILATION CONDITIONS; THE GREATEST SAVINGS OF ENERGY ARE POSSIBLE DURING THE DRYING, THE HEALING OF INJURIES AND THE COOLING OF POTATOES, AMOUNTING TO 60% OF OVERALL ENERGY CONSUMPTION FOR VENTILATION; THE STORAGE OF POTATOES OF LOW MOISTURE CONTENT, WITHOUT INJURIES, WITH SUITABLE COOLING, CAN DECREASE ENERGY CONSUMPTION BY 8 KW/T; ENERGY CONSUMPTION RANGES BETWEEN 4.2 AND 6.5 KW/T IN THE CASE OF FULL MECHANISATION FROM RECEPTION TO SHIPMENT.
