Summary

DESCRIBES HOW COLD ENERGY STORAGE IN AN AQUIFER CAN BE THE SOURCE OF MANY ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS. POINTS OUT THAT FURTHER ANALYSIS OF THE POSSIBLE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THIS PROCESS DEMONSTRATES THAT THE EFFECTS ARE MINIMAL OR THAT PREVENTION IS RELATIVELY STRAIGHTFORWARD. ARGUES THAT THIS INDICATES THAT COLD ENERGY STORAGE HAS THE ADVANTAGE OVER MECHANICAL REFRIGERATION AND NATURAL WATER COOLING, WHERE THE USED WATER IS RELEASED INTO THE SURFACE WATER SYSTEM.
