Summary
Given the severity and prevalence of post-COVID19 symptoms in the general population, identification of boosters for rehabilitation programs seems to be of paramount importance. Twenty patients with previously confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and symptoms of post-COVID19 condition (PCC) of varying severity were recruited for a comprehensive rehabilitation program, including whole-body cryostimulation (WBC). The main symptoms were dyspnea, chronic pain, poor sleep quality, muscle fatigue, and elevated markers of inflammation. Because we provided a variety of interventions, including nutritional, psychological support, exercise and physiotherapy, we could not determine the extent to which WBC per se may have contributed to clinical and functional improvements. However, for all participants, the introduction of WBC was a turning point in subjective and objective improvements in health and function. In this study we document some preliminary evidence on the role of WBC as an effective and safe adjunct for functional recovery in PCC.
