Summary
Chilled beams, displacement ventilation, thermal storage: the new headquarters for Co-operative Retail Services has it all. A commendable degree of integration has been achieved by exposing the heavyweight construction, designing to low U-values and providing a degree of natural ventilation. But the study shows that the office uplighting, though probably effective, does not make use of the latest energy efficient light sources, and neither does the ceiling structure really aid light distribution, whether it be artificial or natural in origin.
