Summary

Negotiations concerning the ITER project have succeeded at last: the thermonuclear reactor will be built in Cadarache, in south-east France, and the Japanese engineer and diplomat Kname Ikeda will head it. A majority of physicists show signs of enthusiasm, but there is still a long way to go before the reactor swings into action.
