Summary

THE HEAT CONTENT OF A LAKE CAN BE CALCULATED USING FORMULAE DEVELOPED BY MULTIPLE REGRESSION ANALYSIS. THE VARIABLES USED IN DEALING WITH THE LAKE UNDER CONSIDERATION HAVE BEEN AREA, VOLUME AND DEPTH AND IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE ACCURACY OF CALCULATION, THE LAKE SHOULD ALSO BE CLASSIFIED WITH RESPECT TO ITS SIZE. DATA WAS OBTAINED FOR 85 LAKES IN SWEDEN. BESIDES THE THEORETICAL WORK DESCRIBED, THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SEA, TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS AND THERMAL CONTENT ARE ALSO PRESENTED. (SYNOP. SWED. BUILD.
