AMONG THE LATENT HEAT STORAGE SYSTEMS WHICH HAVE BEEN PUT INTO PRACTICALUSE IN RECENT YEARS, THE FOLLOWING IS ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SYSTEMS: PHASE CHANGE MATERIALS ARE PACKED IN SPHERICAL PLASTIC CAPSULES WITH SPECIAL ADDITIVES WHICH PREVENT SUPERCOOLING AND SEPARATION OF THE LIQUID AND SOLID PHASES ; AND THE NUMBER OF SPHERICAL CAPSULES IS DETERMINED BY THE TOTAL QUANTITY OF STORED HEAT AND CAPSULES. THE TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATIONS OF THE LATENT HEAT STORAGE SYSTEM ARE DESCRIBED.
