THIS PAPER IS CONCERNED WITH A ROTARY COMPRESSOR FOR AIR CONDITIONING USE. THE LEAKAGE THROUGH A RADIAL CLEARANCE ON A ROLLING PISTON IS ANALYSED THEORETICALLY AND EXPERIMENTALLY. MOST OF THE LEAKAGE OCCURS IN THE LATTER PART OF THE SHAFT REVOLUTION AFFECTED BY THE DYNAMIC CHANGE OF THE CLEARANCE. TO DECREASE THE LEAKAGE LOSS IT IS DESIRABLE TO ASSEMBLE THE COMPRESSOR WITH AN APPROPRIATE ECCENTRICITY BETWEEN CENTRES OF A CYLINDER AND A MAIN BEARING.
