NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN REFRIGERATION COMPRESSORS.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE ARTICLE BEGINS BY DISCUSSING SOCIAL PARAMETERS FOR SMALL COMPRESSORS INTENDED FOR DOMESTIC, COMMERCIAL AND AUTOMOBILE AIR-CONDITIONING AND REFRIGERATION APPLICATIONS. DEVELOPMENTS HAVE MAINLY TAKEN PLACE IN JAPAN WHERE NOISE AND VIBRATION IS MOST NOTICEABLE BECAUSE OF THE DENSITY OF POPULATION. NEW ELECTRONIC MANUFACTURING AND MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUES HAVE ENABLED ROTARY COMPRESSORS TO BE MADE WITH MUCH SMALLER CLEARANCES. EFFICIENCIES CAN BE INCREASED AND NOISE AND VIBRATION REDUCED. ROLLING PISTON, ROTARY VANE AND SCROLL COMPRESSORS ARE ILLUSTRATED AND DISCUSSED RELATIVE TO EACH OTHER AND TO THE RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS THEY ARE NOW REPLACING. D.W.H.
