Summary

DESCRIBES AN INVESTIGATION OF THE PERFORMANCE OF OLDER DOMESTIC HEAT PUMPS AND THEIR COMPRESSORS. NOTES THAT OVER 13,000 HEAT PUMPS ARE INSTALLED IN SWEDEN. PRESENTS AND DISCUSSES THERESULTS OF INVESTIGATIONS INTO 21 SEVEN-TO-TEN YEAR OLD INSTALLATIONS WITH AVERAGE OPERATING TIMES OF ABOUT 30,000 HOURS. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT COMPRESSOR PERFORMANCE HAS NOT DETERIORATED IN SPITE OF LONG OPERATING TIMES, ALTHOUGH HERMETIC COMPRESSORS MAY REQUIRE AN OIL CHANGE. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ESTIMATE THE REMAINING LIFE OF THE COMPRESSORS. (INT. BUILD. SERV. ABSTR., GB., 25, N 3, 1990/05-06, 90-00690.
