Summary

This work studied the effect of the stainless-steel roughness in the lithium bromide (LiBr) solution contact angle by the method of static sessile drop method. Three different stainless steel samples with roughness of 10, 140 and 300 nm were prepared. The contact angle with water and commercial LiBr was measured at ambient conditions. Contact angles increased while the roughness was increased from 10 to 140 nm and decreased while the roughness was decreased from 140 to 300 nm in the case of both fluids. The growth and the decrease of the contact angles were 3.5 times higher in the case of water. Finally, a linear relation between the contact angle and the LiBr solution concentration was identified for different roughness’s by the support of data obtained from the bibliography.
