Summary
The article presents a new strategy for preserving the integrity of sinusoidal cells by rinsing stored livers with Carolina rinse solution just prior to surgical implantation. Carolina rinse solution greatly reduces lethal injury to endothelial cells, prevents Kupffer cell activation, and markedly improves graft survival.
