Summary
Low-temperature applications with evaporating temperatures below -20°C are very common in the field of refrigeration. Most common applications are frozen food storage, freezing, environmental test chambers, in the semi-conductor industry and in the chemical industry. The paper summarizes a comparison of different compressor technologies and suitable refrigerants for both low-temperature applications and extreme low temperature applications. The paper also contains reflections on performance and efficiency aspects as well.
