Low-temperature natural helium separation processes for obtaining 3Helium isotope.

Number: pap. n. 0080

Author(s) : MAKSIM K.

Summary

The problem of 3He shortage can be solved by cryogenic means using commodity helium, which is a natural mixture of 4He-3He isotopes. For the preliminary enrichment superfluid filtration through a coal filter was analyzed. Rectification and sorbtion methods were suggested as final stages for 3He enrichment. Rational process parameters as: concentration, temperature, enrichment ratio, for all adjacent technological stages are given. Experimental rectification data for low initial 3He concentration were obtained and the new sample ejection and mass-spectrometric methodology was created.
