Magnetic refrigeration: the role of the magnetocaloric effect of first order transitions.

Summary

The magnetocaloric properties of ferrimagnetic DyCo2, which orders at about 140 K were determined by dc magnetization and heat capacity measurements in magnetic fields. These properties were compared to those of some of the Gd5(Si1-xGex)4 phases.
